Glen’s manufacturing process for our Quick Release Hook products has been refined to an efficient, lean process which meets our stringent quality standards. Achieved through our combined decades of experience in marine design and engineering with the latest lean manufacturing techniques, customers can be assured that every Glen Quick Release Hooks is made to deliver performance and longevity.
Manufactured in our advanced facility in Chongqing, China, we carefully follow a multi-step process for manufacturing our hook bodies.
Firstly, our purchased metal parts are mechanically processed by blanking, turning, and drilling, followed by rigorous shot blasting of machined metal parts. This is followed by manual painting and drying the metal parts, a multi-stage process that includes coats of primer, a middle paint layer, and a topcoat layer.
Our paint process adjusts according to seasonal ambient temperatures: when temperatures are higher in spring, summer, and autumn the painted parts are dried naturally; when the temperature is lower in winter, the parts are gently heated to ensure correct paint adhesion.
The sprayed metal parts are then assembled for the finished product.
The production process of the hook base has no mechanical machining technology, and the rest has a similar production process as the Quick Release Hook Body – the base is fabricated, machined, sandblasted and welded, before assembly for load testing. Once this has passed, the base is disassembled, painted, and the full QRH is assembled and packed for dispatch.
This dispatch isn’t the end of the journey. At Glen, our customer relationships are paramount, and we continue to support the whole life of the product through aftersales service.
Glen’s expertise in the manufacturing of Quick Release Hook solutions means we understand all aspects of the design, engineering, and manufacturing of safe, reliable products for a jetty, quay, port, towing, and offshore use.
Our dedicated team is ready to direct with you to produce a tailored solution that meets the exacting performance and safety requirements. Manufacturing Process
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) is our standard process that evaluates the equipment during and after the assembly process by verifying that it is built and operating in accordance with customer’s requirements and design specifications.
FAT can help our customers ensure that the components and controls are working properly according to the functionality of the Quick release hooks. All the testing procedures are performed at GLEN’s factory.
GLEN’s FAT process can be attended by our customers or internationally recognized third parties, to achieve independent proof of functionality, quality and integrity.
During the process, all important documents, such as manuals, drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) can be verified.
The test items typically include the following:

Non-Destructive Testing
Non-destructive testing (NDT) is performed after welding procedure is finished, in a scale of 100%, it ensures the welding job is completed under standing welding procedure and result meet international standards.
Load Test
Every single piece of quick release hook is tested to ensure the most important function of the product, by mainly two procedure:
Coating Check
Our coating is processed with Hempel brand Paint in accordance with ISO 12944, C5M. The coating inspection is performed under witness of the customers or internationally recognized third party.
It is widely recognized what actually really matters is the total cost of ownership, the costs are not just in the purchase of quick release hook equipment, but also in regular preventative maintenance which can reduce downtime, and improve productivity with risks under control.
A tailored service program gives you inside access to GLEN quick release hook experts and allows you to leverage our experience and product knowledge for your own benefit.
GLEN will work with you with a service solution including some or all of the following:
